Doug and Bethany Kereszturi have found their perfect place in coastal North Carolina. After moving to Hampstead from the Cleveland area in 2014, they embraced the coastal lifestyle, and now they’re bringing that same energy to Southport. Their new Burrito Shak restaurant opens this September!
The couple started as Burrito Shak customers first. They fell in love with Burrito Shak’s food and culture. The Hampstead location became a family favorite. They watched the local restaurant bring people together in their community. That’s when they knew they wanted to be franchise partners too.
From Customers to Franchise Partners
The Kereszturis first discovered Burrito Shak as customers. Drawn to the fresh food and welcoming atmosphere, they quickly made the Hampstead location a family favorite. They saw how the restaurant brought people together and knew they wanted to be part of that mission.
“We chose Burrito Shak because the founder’s values align with ours,” Bethany explains. “From the very first meeting with the corporate team, we could feel their passion for the brand. It felt right, we knew immediately this was the team we wanted to join.”
Doug, originally from West Leechburg, Pennsylvania, and Bethany, from Warren, Ohio, have always understood the importance of community. After experiencing it firsthand in Hampstead, they’re excited to bring that same spirit to their new location at 5130 Southport-Supply Road SE.

What Sets Burrito Shak Apart
For the Kereszturis, Burrito Shak stands out because of its culture as much as its cuisine. “The customer service is outstanding, and the food speaks for itself, always fresh, always flavorful,” Bethany says.
That freshness comes from scratch-made preparation and premium ingredients. Every sauce and salsa is crafted in-house, based on recipes developed by founder David Longo, whose culinary expertise brings a coastal twist to classic Mexican flavors. The menu even reflects the beach lifestyle, with items named after surf breaks and coastal towns.
Southport, with its steady growth and mix of locals and visitors, is the perfect community for this concept. While seafood and Southern fare dominate the local dining scene, Burrito Shak offers something fresh: a fast-casual experience with consistently high-quality food.

Perfect Timing for a Coastal Launch
Opening a new restaurant in September is no coincidence. The Southport location will capture both end-of-summer tourists and local families seeking new dining options as school begins. With its prime spot on Southport-Supply Road, the restaurant will serve boaters, golfers, and visitors exploring downtown, making it a new staple for both locals and seasonal guests.
A Growing Brand, Rooted in Community
The Kereszturis join a growing network of successful Burrito Shak franchise partners across North Carolina and beyond. The brand’s success comes not just from great food but also from comprehensive training, ongoing support, and proven marketing systems that give franchisees the tools to thrive.
For Doug and Bethany, this venture is about more than business. It’s about creating jobs, supporting local suppliers, and offering a welcoming space for families to gather.
Coastal Culture Comes Full Circle
Doug and Bethany’s story reflects what Burrito Shak is all about, authentic coastal culture, scratch-made food, and a commitment to community. What began as a favorite family restaurant has now become their own business, allowing them to share the “Quick. Crafted. Coastal.” experience with Southport.
This September, Southport gains more than just another dining option. It gains a gathering place where great food and genuine hospitality meet.
